Plaintiff v. Infectious Disease Physician

Client:

Defendant Infectious Disease Physician

Outcome:

Verdict for the Defense

Synopsis:

DBMS attorneys John McGarry and Meagan VanderWeele successfully defended an infectious disease physician in a three-week medical negligence/wrongful death trial.  A 22-year old woman died from sepsis from an undiagnosed perforated duodenal ulcer one week after being admitted to the hospital for mental status changes.  There were 29 witnesses, including 18 experts.   Plaintiff’s lawyers, Stephan Blandin, Rebecca Neubauer, and Michael Grieco, asked the jury to award $12 million to the patient’s mother, and the jury found in favor of the defendants.
