DuPre and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company v. Defendant Automobile Manufacturer et al.
Defendant Automobile ManufacturerOutcome:
Plaintiff’s motor home was involved in a non-collision fire resulting in the complete destruction of the motor home and all of its contents.
Plaintiffs sued the automobile manufacturer, the manufacturer of the chassis, and the second-stage manufacturer of the motor home. Plaintiffs’ expert claimed that the fire was a result of a vapor leak in the fuel delivery line and that the automobile manufacturer failed to properly attach clamps at a connection between the metal fuel line and a rubber hose.
The defense experts were not able to determine the cause or origin of the fire, but testified that plaintiffs’ expert’s theory was not valid.
The jury deliberated for thirty minutes before returning a verdict in favor of both the automobile manufacturer and the second-stage manufacturer.
