Biography
David J. Handley concentrates his practice in professional negligence, institutional negligence, product liability and commercial litigation. He has experience representing clients at all phases of litigation up to trial. Mr. Handley co-authored the chapter for “Venue and Forum Non Conveniens” in the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s (IICLE) Handbook for Illinois Civil Practice.
Mr. Handley earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2018. During law school, Mr. Handley served a Judicial Extern for the Honorable John W. Darrah in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and obtained his Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 license while working for the Chicago Transit Authority’s Law Department. Mr. Handley graduated magna cum laude earning his B.A. in Political Science and Spanish at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013.
David is active in his community and serves as Treasurer for the Leukemia Research Foundation Affiliate Board. Prior to joining Donohue Brown, Mr. Handley was an associate attorney at another reputable defense firm where he worked on professional negligence, premises and transportation liability, construction, insurance coverage, and other complex litigation matters. Mr. Handley is fluent Spanish and taught English to native Spanish speakers in Madrid, Spain before embarking upon his legal career.
