Kathleen E. Freeman


Kathleen E. Freeman concentrates her practice on professional negligence and product liability. She defends physicians and lawyers against malpractice claims and manufacturers against product liability claims. She has significant experience handling pretrial discovery, drafting and arguing substantive motions, and preparing matters for trial.

Prior to joining Donohue Brown Mathewson & Smyth, Ms. Freeman worked at a civil litigation defense firm where she focused her practice on professional negligence, municipal defense, premises liability, and utility defense. She has experience defending clients in both state and federal actions in Indiana and Illinois. She was recognized by the Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association as an Up & Coming Woman in Law in 2016 and 2017.

Ms. Freeman earned her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board. She also worked year-round at the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office in Michigan and completed an internship with the United States Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Michigan.
