Ellen McHugh serves as National Discovery Counsel for Ford Motor Company. As national counsel, her practice is concentrated on complex discovery matters in product liability actions in state and federal jurisdictions throughout the United States.
She has significant experience in handling all aspects of written discovery, including discovery disputes and related motion practice, preparing corporate representatives for deposition, overseeing and conducting large scale document collection efforts, document retention, and e-discovery matters.
Her prior experience with a startup law firm, national bank and Chicago’s McPier Authority, exposed her to diverse individual, governmental and corporate legal matters, including appellate and post-judgment matters. Her 360-degree understanding of litigation issues allows her to efficiently and effectively achieve positive resolutions for her clients.
Ms. McHugh has achieved a high level of success in avoiding and resolving discovery disputes and receiving favorable results on motions involving discovery and e-discovery issues.
Ms. McHugh successfully defended Chicago’s Auditorium Theater in a fraud action.
Ms. McHugh successfully defended a corporation at trial and on appeal in an action brought by a former contractor.
Ms. McHugh successfully appealed a trial court’s erroneous dismissal of a construction action based on statutes of limitations and repose in a construction matter.
Ms. McHugh is actively involved in charity work in the northern suburbs and enjoys working with organizations that benefit women and children.
