Mark Burden and Kent Mathewson were invited speakers at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 10, 2010.

John J. Duffy was an invited speaker at the American Bar Association’s National Legal Malpractice Conference in Miami, Florida. Mr. Duffy spoke about defense lawyers handling legal malpractice cases when the insurance carrier has asserted a complicated coverage issue. Mr. Duffy authored a paper on the topic that was included with the seminar materials and is available by emailing Mr. Duffy at john.duffy@dbmslaw.com.

Kent Mathewson spoke at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in Las Vegas on February 27, 2009. This presentation addressed expert testimony in medical cases.

Kent Mathewson spoke at the Annual Joint Meeting of the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society on February 21, 2009. The topic was the management of difficult patients.

On January 30, 2009 Stetson F. Atwood gave a presentation at the annual conference of the Academic Hospital Affiliates and the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine. The topic was medical myths and malpractice litigation.

John J. Duffy was an invited speaker at CNA's ALADN seminar in Atlanta, GA. The conference focuses on issues facing attorneys handling accounting and legal malpractice cases. Mr. Duffy spoke on ediscovery issues in legal malpractice cases and the unique issues seen there, including attorney-client privileged electronic documents, where electronic documents are stored at law firms, proprietary case management software used by lawyers and law firms, how documents can be altered and tracking alterations using external and internal metadata, and using ediscovery vendors wisely.
